Colopl has announced White Cat Project INFINITY (known in Japan as Shironeko Project INFINITY) for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The new 3D action RPG will launch in 2027.

The game is a brand new console entry based on Shironeko Project NEW WORLD'S, a mobile game that just celebrated its 12th anniversary. According to Colopl, the development team is customizing the mobile game's easy-to-play action specifically for a dedicated console format. You can see the initial teaser on the official website.

Because this is a brand new game scheduled for 2027, there are no reviews or hands-on impressions available yet. The game is currently announced exclusively for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Colopl has not mentioned any plans for PlayStation, Xbox, or PC ports.

I am curious about how the game will actually utilize the newer hardware. The announcement confirms a Switch 2 release, but it does not detail any specific Switch 2 special features. By the time this game launches in 2027, the original Switch will be ten years old. Scaling a fast-paced action game across a decade of hardware differences is a massive technical challenge.

Real-time party building

White Cat Project INFINITY is a 3D action RPG built heavily around character collection. The core gameplay loop introduces a "Selection" system during combat. When you encounter allies in the middle of a battle, you have to make a real-time choice. You can either add the new character to your active party or use the encounter to upgrade your current roster.

The game features characters returning from the mobile universe, alongside brand new original characters created for this console release. Mixing and matching these characters triggers a "Character Link" system. Different combinations unlock evolved action moves and specific stat buffs.

12 years of mobile history

Colopl launched the original Shironeko Project in July 2014.

Moving a long-running mobile property to a dedicated console is a logical step. It gives the developer a way to package a decade of lore, character designs, and world-building into a standalone product. Stripping away the constraints of a free-to-play mobile economy allows for a more traditional progression system.

The 2027 release window gives Colopl plenty of time to show exactly how the combat scales up for a controller. Until then, fans of the mobile game have a long wait ahead of them.
