Square Enix is selling Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts card cases
Just in time for Business Card Day, Square Enix has updated its e-STORE with new Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest card cases.
Square Enix is selling business card cases on its online store, the Square Enix e-STORE. In time for Business Card Day today, May 4th (which I didn't know was a thing), the lineup includes business card holders for various titles, including a blue design with a Slime relief and a gold-colored product adorned with the Roto crest from the Dragon Quest series.
The Dragon Quest portion of the catalog actually released back in September 2025, but the items are still available. The collection leans heavily into the franchise's recognizable mascots. You can get stainless steel cases with raised reliefs of a standard blue Slime, a King Slime, or a Metal Slime. The metal variants cost 2,530 yen (around $16), and the standard and King Slime versions are 2,750 yen (around $17.50).
If you want something less round, the store has a dark case based on the Dragonlord, the final boss of the original 1986 Famicom game. The gold-colored Roto case is the standout of the group, styled after the hero's crest that appears throughout the early games in the series. The Dragon Quest franchise is a cornerstone of the Japanese role-playing genre and has sold over 85 million units globally since its inception. The Roto crest ties back to the original trilogy of games, which established the mechanical foundation that almost every subsequent turn-based RPG would build upon.
$42 for the Kingdom Hearts ones
The newest additions to the store are two Kingdom Hearts stationery cases. These are scheduled to launch on June 30, 2026. You can choose between a black or white design, and both are priced at 6,600 yen (roughly $42). Each case holds about 30 standard business cards. The higher price tag on the Kingdom Hearts cases reflects a different tier of merchandise. At 6,600 yen, these are positioned as premium stationery items rather than casual novelties. The cases have a sleek, minimalist look compared to the bright blue Slime designs.
The Kingdom Hearts series has been blending Final Fantasy and Disney characters since its PlayStation 2 debut in 2002. The franchise has shipped over 36 million copies across over a dozen games. It makes sense that Square Enix would produce high-end office accessories for it. The people who grew up playing the original game are now well into their professional careers.
Office supplies for RPG fans
Square Enix has a long history of turning its role-playing game properties into physical goods. The company formed in 2003 from the merger of Square and Enix, bringing both massive RPG properties under one corporate roof. This allowed them to centralize their merchandising efforts through platforms like the e-STORE. You can buy Final Fantasy XIV wine glasses, NieR Automata music boxes, and now, Kingdom Hearts business card holders.
The Smileslime brand handles most of the Dragon Quest mascot merchandise, turning Akira Toriyama's character designs into everyday household items. Video game merchandise usually focuses on apparel, posters, or display figures. Business card cases are a highly specific product category, but they fit perfectly into Japanese corporate culture where the exchange of business cards remains a formal and expected practice. The ritual of presenting and receiving cards is a standard part of professional introductions. Pulling a card out of a metal case shaped like a Dragon Quest monster is certainly one way to start a meeting.
KINGDOM HEARTS INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE is available on Humble Bundle for $39.99 (60% off).
