August 17th free games roundup
A fresh batch of five free indie games available to play or claim today, including new releases on itch.io and mobile.
Today brings five free games to claim and keep. The lineup includes a mix of new indie releases across itch.io, web browsers, and Android, and I want to see how the horror mashup plays.
Games on itch.io
Five Nights In The Backrooms
Five Nights In The Backrooms is a survival horror fan game that merges Five Nights at Freddy's mechanics with The Backrooms lore. You monitor security cameras to track hostile entities wandering through liminal office corridors, which is a fantastic twist on the usual animatronics you see in these games. The game is free to download on itch.io. The offer doesn't have a set expiration date.
LifeSim
LifeSim is a cozy simulation game built to teach personal finance and lifestyle balance. You manage a budget and navigate daily life choices. It's free to play in your browser on itch.io, and the developer hasn't listed an expiration date for the current promotional offer.
Eternal Frenemies: Return to Eternity
Eternal Frenemies: Return to Eternity is a narrative-driven fantasy romance visual novel built with the Ren'Py engine. The story explores the origins of two characters in a broader fantasy universe, and the writing seems incredibly detailed. Claim it on itch.io. The offer is permanent.
Web browser games
Hoops gm basketball manager
Hoops gm basketball manager is a management simulator that puts you in charge of a basketball franchise. You handle rosters, trades, and team strategy in a text-based interface, so you don't need a powerful PC to run it at all. The game is free to play directly in your web browser. It has no expiration date.
Android games
Draw to guid the Ant
Draw to guid the Ant is a casual mobile puzzle game. You draw paths on the screen to help an ant navigate around obstacles and reach its goal, which requires a surprising amount of precision. It's free to download on the Google Play Store. The offer has no current end date.
Free game offers can vanish quickly. Grab these titles now if you want to add them to your library, because developers sometimes add price tags later.
