Attack on Titan 3 is coming this December with a post-launch MAPPA intro

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have set a December 10 release date for Attack on Titan 3. The publisher originally announced the game back in June during Summer Game Fest. Now we finally have a concrete date. It hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and the Nintendo Switch 2 right before the holidays. The game picks up the Omega Force formula of zipping around with Omnidirectional Mobility Gear to slice napes, but this time it covers the entire story from the survey corps beginnings to the end.

The custom character creator from the second game is back. You can build an avatar to fight alongside the main cast.

The MAPPA animation update

The studio MAPPA is producing an original opening animation for the game, directed by anime veteran Arifumi Imai. There is a catch. The animation won't be ready for the December launch and will arrive in a future update instead.

Save bonuses and early access

The standard edition costs $69.99. Pre-ordering gets you a digital "Wings of Freedom" earring set, and early physical purchases include a hoodie. If you buy the digital deluxe edition, you get 72 hours of early access. Players with save data from Attack on Titan 2 or Final Battle will also get some unspecified in-game bonuses.

I'm curious to see how the Switch 2 handles the sheer speed of the ODM gear movement compared to the PS5 and Xbox versions. The previous games struggled on older hardware when too many enemies crowded the screen.
