AtGames is bringing a naval warfare table to Legends Pinball

AtGames has announced Battle EM+, a new virtual pinball table with a naval warfare theme. It launches on Legends Pinball devices on June 4. The release is an in-house production branded as an AtGames Original. It adds another entry to the company's expanding lineup of retro-modern hybrid tables.

The EM+ (Electro-Mechanical Plus) series operates on a very specific design philosophy. These tables take the straightforward layouts typical of 1960s and 1970s physical pinball machines and inject them with digital-only mechanics. In a traditional electro-mechanical machine, logic is handled by physical relays and stepper motors. This limits how complex the rules can be. Adding a new rule to a physical machine requires wiring a new physical switch. The EM+ format keeps the physical aesthetic of an older table but runs modern software rulesets underneath. You get the mechanical chimes and the physical score reels, but without the hardware limitations.

For Battle EM+, that rule sheet revolves around naval combat. The playfield includes dedicated lanes for launching torpedoes and placing naval mines. Players also need to set up radar stations and complete five specific strategic missions to advance their score. The missions require hitting specific target banks in a set order, forcing players to aim carefully rather than just flipping wildly. To keep the ball in play longer than a real 1970s machine would normally allow, the table includes modern safety nets like ball saves. It also has score multipliers, cannon bonuses, and ammo bonuses to inflate the scoring potential far beyond what a mechanical reel could display.

Building out the library

AtGames has spent the last few months aggressively expanding the EM+ catalog for its virtual cabinets. Recent releases like Magic Castle EM+, Star God EM+, and Star's Phoenix EM+ were developed in collaboration with Magic Pixel. Those tables largely reimagined classic Zaccaria solid-state and electro-mechanical machines by giving them updated physics and new digital objectives.

Battle EM+ shifts away from the Zaccaria license entirely. It is an AtGames Original built specifically for the Legends platform rather than adapting a historical physical table. The art direction leans into a comic-book military aesthetic. Character portraits are drawn in a classic mid-century illustration style. They look like something out of a 1950s war comic. The playfield itself is heavily color-coded. It uses bright oranges, reds, and deep blues to guide players toward their mission objectives.

The physical layout is relatively open. There are no massive plastic ramps, complex wireforms, or secondary upper playfields to block the view of the bumpers. Instead, the challenge comes from hitting specific target banks and rollovers in the correct sequence to trigger the naval missions. The top of the playfield is dominated by explosion-themed pop bumpers to create plenty of chaotic lateral movement. Since there are no ramps to safely return the ball to the flippers, controlling the bounce out of that bumper cluster will be the main survival skill. A bad bounce off a bumper will send the ball straight down the outlanes.

Cabinet compatibility

The table will be available through the official AtGames eStore for the Legends Pinball ecosystem. The company's digital storefront currently supports both the older HD cabinets and the newer 4K models. Players who own multiple devices in the Legends family can typically tie the purchase to their universal account. This allows the table to run on different machines within the same house.

Digital pinball works best when it stops trying to perfectly simulate real life and starts leaning into things a real piece of wood and glass cannot easily do. Taking the drain-heavy geometry of a 1970s table and layering modern combo systems on top creates a completely different rhythm of play. We will see how the naval missions change that rhythm when Battle EM+ arrives next week.
