Playasia launched The Physical Revival, VOL. 01 today. The campaign reprints 14 out-of-print PlayStation 4 games and runs until September 2.

The retailer is focusing on multi-language Asian-region physical prints that include full English language support. Out of the 14 games available in this production run, five stand out.

River City Girls

WayForward and Arc System Works released this brawler in 2019. It updated the long-running Kunio-kun series with modern combat mechanics and an excellent synth-pop soundtrack by Megan McDuffee. Original physical copies are hard to find now. It remains one of the best beat 'em ups on the PS4.

Caladrius Blaze

Moss originally debuted this gothic shoot 'em up in arcades before bringing the expanded edition to PS4 in 2016. It combines traditional vertical bullet-hell gameplay with character artwork by Suzuhito Yasuda and music by Basiscape. The Asian-English physical print is a reliable way to own a niche shooter without relying on digital storefronts.

Kunio-kun: The World Classics Collection

Arc System Works published this massive retro compilation in December 2018. It puts 18 classic Famicom and NES games on one disc. The collection includes 11 Kunio-kun titles that previously never left Japan, plus localized classics like River City Ransom. Having all of these games preserved on a single physical disc is incredibly convenient.

Bullet Girls Phantasia

SHADE developed this third-person tactical action shooter in 2018. It moved the series out of modern school clubs and into an alternate fantasy world. The game never received a western physical release. Import gamers quickly bought up the Asian-English copies because they included full English subtitles.

Omega Labyrinth Z

Matrix Software released this rogue-like turn-based dungeon crawler in Japan in July 2017. The planned 2018 western release was canceled entirely due to regional ratings issues. That cancellation turned the Asian import copies with English text into expensive collector items. It is getting a second production run.

The promotion closes on September 2 at 5:00 PM HKT. The "VOL. 01" label implies Playasia will run more of these reprint waves in the future.

River City Girls is available on Humble Bundle for $14.99 (50% off).
