Microsoft just dropped its routine weekly roundup of games coming to Xbox consoles and PC. The slate for the week of August 10 to 14 has a few massive releases stacked right next to each other on Thursday. This week is mostly about traditional heavy hitters.

The back half of the summer is always a strange time for game releases. We are past the quiet months but not quite into the holiday rush. Here are five games from the lineup that stand out.

5. Akatori

This one arrives on August 11. It is a 2D action platformer with a heavy focus on combat and exploration. The animation looks incredibly fluid in the trailers. You play as a young monk exploring multiple realms.

4. No More Room in Hell 2

Launching on August 11, this is an eight-player co-op zombie survival game. The original was a popular Source engine mod from years ago. The sequel moves to a standalone commercial release with permanent death mechanics. You have to find your friends on a massive map before the horde overwhelves you.

3. Sandustry

Hooded Horse is publishing this factory automation game on August 13. It combines logistics management with falling-sand physics and fully destructible environments. You have to build mining operations in a subterranean open world. The visual style looks like a blend of Terraria and Factorio.

2. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

The massive 50v50 tactical shooter franchise moves to a new era on August 13. Expression Games built this entry on Unreal Engine 5. It brings helicopters and riverine operations to the established formula. The previous game was notoriously unforgiving, and the dense jungle environments will probably make it even harder.

1. EA SPORTS Madden NFL 27

The annual football behemoth lands on August 13. This year has Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams on the cover. EA is pushing a new system called the Persona Engine to change how franchise mode negotiations work. It is the 37th mainline entry in the series.

Thursday is going to be a crowded day for store updates. I am curious to see how the new engine handles the jungle environments in the new Hell Let Loose.
