You can get eight excellent indie games for $10 right now

Humble Bundle has launched its 15th Anniversary Indie Icons Showcase. The $10 package includes eight well-regarded games. The total retail value of the collection is $194. I think this 15th anniversary sale is pretty great, and it helps charity. A portion of the proceeds goes directly to the Electronic Frontier Foundation to support digital privacy rights.

You probably already own half of these

The base tier costs $5 and includes three titles that defined independent development in the late 2010s. Celeste is a precision platformer from Maddy Makes Games that originally launched in 2018. It pairs demanding jump mechanics with a surprisingly grounded story about anxiety and self-doubt. The tight controls and instant respawns made it a massive hit with the speedrunning community.

Slime Rancher takes a much lower-stress approach to game design. Monomi Park released this first-person farming simulator in 2017. The game tasks players with vacuuming up colorful slimes and building a profitable ranch on an alien planet. You crossbreed different slime types to create new variations and harvest their valuable plorts for cash.

Starbound rounds out the entry tier. Chucklefish's 2016 sci-fi sandbox often draws comparisons to Terraria, but it expands the scope to multiple planets and includes a dedicated story campaign. You can build colonies, upgrade your spaceship, and dig to the core of procedurally generated worlds. The modding scene is still highly active a decade after its initial early access launch.

Eight dollars for time control and dice rolls

Bumping your contribution to $8 adds three more games to the pile. Citizen Sleeper is the newest game in the entire bundle. Jump Over the Age released this tabletop-inspired narrative RPG in 2022. You play as an escaped digitized consciousness. You must survive on a ruined space station using daily dice rolls. The writing is excellent and focuses heavily on labor politics and transhumanism.

Superhot is a first-person shooter built around a single mechanical hook: time only moves when you move. The Superhot Team released the final version in 2016 after a highly successful prototype phase. The combat plays out more like a puzzle game than a traditional shooter. You have to dodge bullets in slow motion, throw empty guns at enemies, and plan your attacks carefully.

The Witness is Jonathan Blow's 2016 follow-up to Braid. It drops you onto a mysterious, colorful island filled with hundreds of line-drawing puzzles. The game refuses to hold your hand. You have to learn its complex visual language entirely through observation and environmental clues.

The ten dollar finish line

The final $10 tier unlocks the complete bundle and adds two action-heavy titles to the mix. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is Koji Igarashi's 2019 spiritual successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. ArtPlay built a massive, interconnected castle filled with demons, crafting systems, and hidden abilities. The map design directly mirrors the structure of Igarashi's earlier work at Konami.

Finally, Risk of Rain Returns is a 2023 ground-up remake of the original 2013 roguelike. Hopoo Games overhauled the pixel art, added new survivors, and rebalanced the multiplayer. The core loop remains intact. You crash on an alien planet and fight increasingly difficult waves of monsters as a timer constantly ticks upward.
