Devolver Digital and developer Free Lives are pulling Stick It to the Stickman out of Early Access for a full 1.0 release on September 23. The physics-based corporate brawler will also see a price increase to $11.99 once its current pre-launch discount wraps up.

The game originally hit PC via Steam Early Access on August 18, 2025. It is a roguelike beat 'em up where you literally fight your way up the corporate ladder. You start as a disgruntled entry-level employee and punch, kick, and staple your way through coworkers and middle management until you reach the CEO.

According to Devolver Digital, the upcoming price hike is due to "inflation, cost of goods, and executive salaries." It is a fitting excuse for a game entirely built around toxic corporate hustle culture. Right now, you can grab it at a 30% discount on Steam before the final price locks in next month.

Dropkicking middle management

The combat relies heavily on chaotic physics and environmental weapons. You are not just throwing standard punches. You are using office equipment, coffee-fueled abilities, and whatever else is lying around the breakroom to clear out floors of hostile employees. The ragdoll physics are particularly satisfying when you launch a regional manager through a plate glass window.

Every failed run sends you back to the bottom of the corporate ladder, but you retain certain upgrades for the next attempt. The roguelike progression system ensures that no two trips through the human resources department play out exactly the same way. You might find a powerful coffee power-up early on, or you might get swarmed by interns armed with keyboards.

The 1.0 update brings a year of Early Access development to a close. The final release adds two new game modes, including something called Neurolink and a grand finale mode. It also introduces new archetypes for your corporate climber, expanding the build variety.

The Free Lives formula

Free Lives has spent the last decade building a very specific type of action game. The Cape Town studio broke out in 2015 with the run-and-gun platformer Broforce. Since then, they have maintained a steady partnership with Devolver Digital, releasing the VR gladiator simulator Gorn, the ecological strategy game Terra Nil, and the frantic shooter Anger Foot.

While Terra Nil was a quiet, meditative game about restoring ecosystems, Stick It to the Stickman is a loud, messy return to the chaotic violence Free Lives is known for. It shares the same DNA as Anger Foot and Broforce: high-octane action, fluid combat, and a completely irreverent sense of humor.

Locking in the final build

Early Access games raising their prices at launch is a standard industry practice. The current 30% discount is the last chance to get in at the early adopter rate. Once September 23 rolls around, the $11.99 price tag becomes the new baseline.

The game remains a PC exclusive for now. Neither Free Lives nor Devolver Digital have mentioned console ports, though the publisher has a strong track record of bringing its indie hits to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms eventually. For now, you will need a Steam account to start your hostile takeover.
