Godzilla Card Game adds a Takashi Yamazaki autograph card and 3 decks

Toho and Bushiroad have laid out the winter roadmap for the Godzilla Card Game, revealing three starter decks, a fifth booster expansion featuring a stamped signature card from director Takashi Yamazaki, and an expanded 2027 national tournament circuit. Developed by Yuhodo and published with Bushiroad's support, the physical trading card game originally launched in July 2025 to mark the franchise's 70th anniversary.
Because the tabletop game pulls monsters from across that entire seven-decade catalog, it isn't tied to any single movie timeline or official canon. Instead, it treats the whole history of Toho kaiju as an attack-and-defend sandbox where Heisei-era monsters, animated iterations, and modern incarnations share the same board. This winter's rollout leans heavily into cross-promotion with Yamazaki's theatrical follow-up, Godzilla -0.0, which premieres in Japan on November 3.
Three monsters, three colors, zero chill
The product wave begins in Japan on November 6 with three simultaneous "Battle Begins!" (Kessen Kaishi!) starter decks, priced at 1,500 yen each. Players can pick between Red (Godzilla), Blue (Destoroyah), and Green (King Ghidorah). Each box includes a pre-built 60-card deck, a playmat, and a play guide, and local shops will run a starter-deck-only tournament format to mark the launch.

Fans attending Godzilla Fest 2026 at Takanawa Gateway City on November 3 will be able to buy the decks a few days early, alongside stage events and nationwide demo sessions. International players don't have to wait much longer, either. According to the official English website, the English editions of all three starter decks will go on sale on December 4, 2026, following a special US tournament in Pasadena, California.
A director's signature in the fifth booster
On December 11, the game's fifth booster pack, Kunrin suru Zero (Reigning Zero), arrives in Japanese shops. Individual 7-card packs cost 440 yen, a 12-pack box runs 5,280 yen, and a full 18-box carton will set serious collectors back 95,040 yen.

The main chase card for the set is an ultra-rare, gold-foil-stamped autograph card from Godzilla -1.0 and Godzilla -0.0 director Takashi Yamazaki. Bushiroad has put voice actor and creator signatures into its other trading card games for years, and putting a film director's autograph into a monster set is a clever hook, though I dread to think what singles sellers will charge for it on the secondary market.
Seven cities for the 2027 national tournament
Alongside the card reveals, Toho mapped out the competitive schedule through next spring. Regional tournaments are set for December 5 and 6 at Belle Salle Iidabashi in Tokyo, followed by a December 19 stop at Matsumoto City Ekimae Kaikan in Nagano.

Starting in January 2027, qualifiers for the 2nd National Championship will expand to seven Japanese cities: Tokyo, Fukuoka, Sendai, Nagoya, Sapporo, Niigata, and Osaka. Having a second national circuit and simultaneous English releases suggests the game has found a steady footing past its initial anniversary year. I'm curious to see if the English edition gets that Yamazaki signature card when the fifth set eventually makes it overseas.
