Frontier Developments Cuts Prices by 90% for Steam Winter Sale
The studio behind Elite Dangerous and Planet Coaster is offering deep discounts on its entire catalog until January 8.
There is a specific kind of paralysis that occurs when looking at a Steam library containing four hundred unplayed games. Naturally the only cure is to buy more of them. For those looking to add to their backlog, the annual Steam Winter Sale is currently underway.
According to a post from Frontier Developments, the British studio is participating in the seasonal event with significant price cuts. The developer confirmed they have applied discounts of "up to 90%" across their catalogue of titles. This promotional pricing will remain available until January 8.
Management and Space Sims
Frontier Developments has been a fixture in the industry since 1994. Founded by David Braben, the studio is best known for maintaining the lineage of the seminal space trading game Elite. Their modern portfolio leans heavily into simulation and management titles that require a significant time investment.
While the announcement did not itemize every specific deal, the studio's catalog includes heavy hitters like Elite Dangerous, Planet Coaster, and the Jurassic World Evolution series. A 90% discount usually applies to older base games or specific DLC packs, making this a viable entry point for players who have waited years to try these simulation loops.
The sale runs through the first week of January. After that point, prices will likely return to their standard MSRP, and we can all go back to ignoring the games we already own.
