Capcom is putting Resident Evil and Onimusha VR in a new Osaka arcade
Capcom's new CAPCOMIX facility opens in Osaka this spring. The space features physical activities and VR games based on Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, and Onimusha.
Capcom is opening a new experiential amusement facility called CAPCOMIX Abeno Hoop in Osaka this spring. According to Game Watch Impress, the space will be located on the third floor of the Hoop shopping center in the Abeno ward.
The facility focuses on physical activities and virtual reality experiences based on the publisher's biggest franchises. It includes dedicated VR zones, digital activities, and a merchandise shop. You can finally find out how exhausting it actually is to perform a Shoryuken in real life.

Street Fighter jumping and Monster Hunter archery
The space is split into different interactive zones. The physical activity section includes attractions specifically named "Street Fighter Shoryuken Jump" and "Monster Hunter Archery." These appear to be active, full-body games rather than traditional arcade cabinets. It is basically a modern take on the classic arcade redemption game, just with more physical exertion and fewer paper tickets spitting out of a slot.
Capcom has a long history with physical arcade spaces in Japan. While Capcom Co., Ltd. Was officially established in 1983, its predecessor, I.R.M. Corporation, was founded in 1979 and initially focused on the manufacture and distribution of electronic game machines. The company started out in 1983 operating electronic game machines before they dominated the 1990s fighting game market with Street Fighter II. They still operate Plaza Capcom arcade locations across the country today. These locations often act as testing grounds for new arcade hardware. Running a new physical amusement center in 2026 is just a continuation of that original business model, albeit with motion tracking and headsets instead of CRT monitors and coin mechs. The Japanese arcade market has shrunk over the last decade. Major players like Sega sold off their arcade operations entirely. Capcom is holding onto physical locations and trying new formats, which shows a very different strategy.

Onimusha gets a VR revival
The dedicated VR-X area includes three specific virtual reality titles, among them "BIOHAZARD VALIANT RAID" and "Onimusha VR SHADOW TEAM." Seeing Resident Evil in a VR arcade makes total sense. Capcom has been pushing the survival horror series into virtual reality for years. They started with Resident Evil 7 and continued through the recent PlayStation VR2 updates for the modern remakes.
The Onimusha inclusion is the real surprise here. The samurai action series was a massive hit on the PlayStation 2. It blended Resident Evil's tank controls and fixed camera angles with fast-paced sword combat. However, it has been mostly dormant for two decades. The last time the franchise saw any official video game release was when Onimusha: Warlords Remastered launched in January 2019 for modern consoles and PC. Putting the property into a location-based VR setup is an unexpected way to keep the name in circulation, especially since fans have been asking for a proper sequel since 2006.
Third floor of the Hoop building
The exact opening date is still listed broadly as Spring 2026.
Location-based VR centers had a rough time globally over the last few years. Many independent operators closed their doors permanently. Capcom clearly sees enough value in its own catalog of characters to try making the math work in a retail shopping center. If nothing else, it gives people a reason to leave the house to play video games together in the same room.
